The 2011 Le Tour de France arrived at its final destination in Paris today. I was obsessed with watching it this year, and probably will be every year from now on. It's hard to put it into words, but here are a few... monumental, amazing, harrowing, uplifting and inspirational.
As for the riders, they bring to mind... courage, heart, determination, intestinal fortitude, inspiration, dreams, beating the odds, teamwork, pride, athleticism, strength and endurance, risks and rewards, good luck and bad luck, disappointment and devastation, pain and survival, triumph and victory.
Le Tour is an incredible journey of man and machine. I will forever be a fan of this event and the amazing athletes who participate in it.
